Bubbling under: Pale shelter (Tears for Fears)
Tears for Fears (image credit) debut album The hurting from 1983 is one of the highlights of the synthesizer-driven British New Wave scene. The best song is Pale shelter, which as a single reached the top 5 in the uk, copying the results of its two predecessors Mad world and Change. The song descrives the feelings of a frustrated rebellious teenager, in lines like "You don't give me love, you give me cold hands - And I can't operate on this failure, when all I want to be is completely in command". Excellent melody and thriving beat ensures that this song does not sound dated three decades later.
